About Bama Blues
Bama Blues is a political commentary site focused primarily on the issues affecting Alabama and the people who live here. The goal of the site is simple: to examine the decisions made by our political leaders, ask difficult questions when necessary, and encourage thoughtful conversation about the future of our state.
Too often, politics in Alabama is treated as something distant or abstract, something that happens in Montgomery or Washington but has little connection to everyday life. In reality, the decisions made by elected officials affect nearly every part of our lives, from healthcare and education to infrastructure and economic opportunity. Bama Blues exists to take a closer look at those decisions and what they mean for the communities of Alabama.

The site was created by Josh, an Alabama native who has spent years following politics at both the state and national level. Like many people his age, he became more politically engaged during the 2008 election and has continued paying close attention to the policies and political movements that shape life in the United States today.
Issues surrounding disability and parental rights are especially important to him. Josh became disabled after a fall left him with severe spinal problems that have required three surgeries so far. He is also a single parent and has raised his son Noah on his own for more than a decade, working full time while putting himself through college and supporting his family.
Those experiences have shaped the way he thinks about public policy and the real-world impact political decisions have on families and communities.
The articles published here are opinion pieces grounded in publicly available information such as legislative records, campaign finance data, and official government sources. The goal is not simply to criticize or praise individual politicians, but to examine their records and encourage readers to think critically about the choices facing voters.
Bama Blues is a small independent project, but the hope is that it can contribute in some small way to a more informed and engaged public conversation in Alabama.
